Supporting the Community

The Asian Hockey Championship is very proud to have supported the community and raised funds for a variety of charitable organizations.

For the 2nd year in a row, the AHC & CE organized a Charity Family skate which was just a fun day for families and friends to come out and enjoy.

Scarborough Icesports generously donated 1 hour to this 2 hour event, and we had quite a good turnout. Roughly 10 bags of canned foods and non-perishable items were donated to the local foodbank, and they were very pleased with our donation.

Thanks to all that participated.

Other Events

  • In July 2008, awards were donated for the Longest Drive to the Japanese Canadian Golf Tourney
  • Also in July 2008, 125 silk screened t-shirts donated to the VBS program at the Toronto Chinese Alliance Church.
  • In February of 2008, the Asian Hockey Championship supported the Lunar New Year Cup, by providing an AHC Hockey Jersey to the MVP of the tournament. That honour went to Ric Hastings (Team Asian Nemesis) who led the tournament in scoring. Ric Hastings is a Safe and Fun League player as well as an Asian Hockey Championship player. Congratulations to Ric Hastings for taking home this honour.

3rd Annual Asian All Star Charity Game

This fun filled, exciting day of hockey was a spin off from the Asian Hockey Championship and Cultural Event. The intent 3 years ago, was to have the Japanese and Chinese communities, working together for a great cause, while playing some high tempo hockey. We raised $1,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society in the past, and this year we raised $1,250 for the Parkinson Society Canada. (http://www.parkinson.ca/en/home.htm). Our goal was to exceed $1,000, and we were able to accomplish this with the generous donations of everyone involved.
