On June 16, 2006, four hockey rinks will be erected in the courtyard of the Toronto-Dominion Centre in Toronto attracting hundreds of spectators, enticing passers-by and turning a tranquil lunchtime setting into a fun-filled ball hockey complex.
Companies can either sponsor their teams outright or use the attached pledge forms to raise the necessary entrance fee to participate. Either way participants get to play a little hockey, have a lot of fun and help prevent homelessness across Ontario.
The funds raised through the 7th Annual Ball Hockey Challenge will benefit Share the Warmth a homeless prevention program. Last year the event raised more than $50,000, which helped the program reach out to over 6,000 people in need of emergency energy assistance. Since 2000 Share the Warmth has assisted 35,000 people, 60% of which were minor children.
