20-January-2008
“If you turn your head, he will skate past you…No joke!”
Outside of the arena, he describes himself as humble, quiet, and occasionally taking a risk here and there. On the ice, Walker Chu is anything but quiet and conservative.
An all star two way defenseman in the SFL and in the Lower Intermediate division for the AHC, Chu is constantly on the puck and up with the rushes. He loves the fast pace nature and mimics how Paul Kariya of the Nashville Predators plays.
Chu has been with the Safe and Fun Hockey League since its inception (5 full years, Winter and Summer). He has captained several teams to several championships and is currently the captain of the run and gun team Bent Chopsticks.
Chu has played 3 years in the AHC, almost winning the Upper Recreational divison 2 years ago, and making a jump up to the Lower Intermediate division last year. Walker with brother Casing have also been integral volunteers, helping out as Ice Guards during the family pleasure skate for the AHC event.
Born and raised in Scarborough Ontario, Walker Chu has been playing hockey for fourteen years. His playing career includes U of T intramurals, ASHL and now the SFL.
This left handed former high school athlete standout, states his favorite past times aside from hockey are hanging out with his close friends, playing board games and poker.
Furthermore he enjoys quality time with his best friend, his girl friend and being challenged by his many PS2 and Xbox games. Chu is currently a high school teacher at Maple Secondary School in Scarborough.
